How to choose the perfect location for your wedding

Choosing the perfect location for your wedding is perhaps the most complicated challenge of the “great day” (if we do not consider the challenge who to take by your side to the altar!). it can simply represent the place where the ceremony is held or, more extensively, a place where to celebrate even the days before the event and, why not, the days after, together with the closest friends.

For this reason, we have decided to help you to make an informed choice with a series of questions that you should ask yourself once you go to visit the location. Not all of them must necessarily apply to you, but they can be useful and come up later. But not everything revolves only to the choice of the place. There are a lot of other details that can make the difference and be decisive: suppliers, catering, the possibility to play music, access to animals and much more!

Having this check-list to hand will avoid unpleasant inconveniences as well as helping you to identify if the place is really what you are looking for.

Availability, capacity and costs

  • Is the location available for our date?
  • What is the maximum seating capacity?
  • Do you have special packages?
  • Is there a minimum spending threshold for renting the location?
  • Is it possible to perform civil ceremonies?
  • What are the payment deadlines and terms?
  • Is there a precise cancellation policy?
  • What is your outdoor space?

Catering

  • Do you offer a catering service?
  • Do you offer a catering suitable for those with allergies or special requests?
  • Do you offer tastings?
  • Do you have a bar service? Until what time does it remain open?
  • Is it possible to bring your own cake/wine? Is there a percentage to pay?

Accommodation

  • Do you also offer accommodation for several days?
  • How far is the location from the main airport?
  • Is there a double suite? Is it included in the package?
  • Do you have a room for preparations (make-up, hairdresser)?
  • Is it possible to stay the night before?
  • Is it possible to reserve rooms for guests too?

Guest requests

  • Is the area easily accessible for disabled people?
  • Are you equipped for newborn babies and children?
  • Do you have a large and well-equipped car park?
  • Is there a designated smoking area?

Staff and technical aspects

  • Do you provide the necessary staff for lights and music?
  • What is the rate of this service and (if so) is there a policy on tips?
  • Who will be responsible for the structure that day?
  • What kind of audio/video instruments do you provide? Microphones, iPods, sockets, adapters, screens ..
  • Until what time is it possible to stay?
  • Until what time is it possible to play music?
  • Are confetti and rice allowed?
  • Is there a contingency plan in case of particularly unfavourable weather conditions?
  • Is there a safe space to store gifts or precious objects?

Details and decorations

  • Is it possible to choose the decorations? (Vases, centrepieces, candelabrums ..)
  • Is it possible to add special lights or decorations to ceilings/walls?
  • Is it possible to use candles?
  • Is it possible to see images of how the location appears at night?
  • Is it possible to play pyrotechnic games with fireworks?
  • Do you have a reserved area for children?
